International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a UN specialized agency, established in 1944 with the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention).

ICAO works with the Convention’s 191 member states and global aviation organizations to develop international Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) which states reference when developing their legally enforceable national civil aviation regulations.

SriLankan Aviation College is an active partner of ICAO's Next Generation Aviation Professionals Programme (NGAP). This is the worldwide initiative of attracting the next generation to high demanding and high quality aviation professional training. Currently ICAO has given this prestigious status to only 45 organizations in the world.

SriLankan Aviation College was accredited in November 2015 as an Associate Member of TRAINAIR PLUS which is ICAO’s worldwide cooperative network of Training centres. TRAINAIR PLUS is a corporative network of Training Organizations and Industry Partners working together to develop and deliver ICAO-harmonized Training packages. TRAINAIR PLUS promotes training collaboration for the purpose of providing safe, secure and sustainable development of global Air Transport.
