Develop a solid foundation for your cargo career by learning the fundamentals of cargo skills and procedures with IATA Cargo Introductory programme. This is the longest running IATA-accredited cargo training programme in Sri Lanka.

Equip yourself for a career in the industry with this comprehensive course. This course is required for IATA Cargo Agents in compliance with the IATA Cargo Agency Resolutions.

Duration of the training programme.

Full time – 03 Months.

Internship - 03 Months (*conditions apply).

What you will learn

Upon completing this course, you will have the skills to:

  • Guide clients on the IATA rules and procedures for air freight shipments.
  • Arrange air cargo shipments in accordance with IATA rules and procedures.
  • Apply published rates and charges for air cargo shipments.
  • Complete air waybills accurately.
  • Prepare shipments ready for carriage.
Course content

The key topics that are covered during this course include:

  • Operations at cargo agencies, airlines, and freight forwarders.
  • Air cargo acceptance basic rating principles.
  • Air waybill completion.
  • Industry terminology and abbreviations.
  • IATA geography, TACT, and other cargo manuals.
Entry Requirements
  • Successful completion of GCE O/L (Local or London) with 6 passes including 4 Credits obtained in one sitting and a Credit for English obtained in any sitting.

    OR

    02 years freight forwarding experience.

  • Age requirement: Between 18 - 26 years.
